To understanding the purpose of spiritual life coaching, we need to understand how life works and precisely how energy works.

Everything is energy. You are energy. Money is energy. Your thoughts are energy. Your emotions and feelings are energy. And energy needs to flow to create reality.

Love too, is energy, energy that naturally flows abundantly through our lives. All we have to do is recognize it, grow it and flow it out to others and to all the world, for it to increase and transform us.

Sometimes it’s difficult to love who we are and we need someone else to hold our hand, to guide our way during the tough, dark times.  Self love is actually quite difficult to achieve and certainly to maintain from day to day.  Just when we are feeling wonderful and vibrant (with love energy), some inner whisper warns us that this euphoria is about to take a nose dive.

But till that moment inevitably arrives, we make the most of feeling happy, rich and on top of the world.

Why does this energy nosedive have to happen? Can’t we be on cloud nine all the time? It’s because of our dualistic universe and the law of polarity at work. What is the law of polarity? It’s what gives spice to experience and effervescence to our emotions and feelings.

Imagine a world where everyone wore white clothing, where the trees and grass were white, the buildings and oceans were white, snow and even fire was white. It would be an unbelievably boring place to live, wouldn’t you agree?

So the law of polarity comes to the rescue. It offers us experiences of opposites. We have color-no color, light-dark, hot-cold, joy-grief, love-absence of love, wealth-poverty and so on. All our experience happens somewhere along the polarity spectrum between the two extremes. This aligns with the duality of our universe; it’s how things work.

While we try to enjoy everything in the positive end of the experiential spectrum, we have to have experienced at least once, some negative emotion and feeling. By knowing what it is to love and be loved, we experience joy. But by knowing what it is to lose that love, we value it all the more. By freezing in a snow storm, we appreciate more enthusiastically, the snug warmth of the open fire burning in the hearth.

So it is with self love. We want to feel confident, composed, powerful, wise, valuable and all those positive identities that make us feel happy. And this is a major goal in living. Happiness is getting in touch with our essence, with the love energy that is intrinsic to who we are.

But we cannot maintain this high love energy all the time, simply, as we have seen, because of the action of the law of polarity. That’s where a spiritual life coach steps in to guide you when it’s too dark for you to see. Energy moves in waves: up - down, up - down. Ecstasy swings to agony, self-esteem alternates with self-doubt, feelings of being worthwhile and valuable dive into the abyss of feeling worthless and insignificant.

Our goal in life is to create more of the positive experiences and feelings, and less of the negatives. How do we do this? How do we overcome or eliminate our negative self image once and for all?
